The concept of “family-sustaining income” is gaining momentum in Austin, uniting elected officials, employers, public agencies, and service providers around a shared belief: every resident should have access to employment pathways that support their families. Yet despite this common vision, the term itself lacks a clear, shared definition. United Way for Greater Austin and the 2-Gen Coalition for Economic Advancement are bringing the community together to put data behind the term and explore how we can apply these insights across all sectors—moving us closer to a future where family-sustaining income is within reach for every Austin family.
